    Most commonly, someone who claims to know or sense things through a special mental power, not through the normal five senses — reading minds, seeing the future, or talking to spirits. Many people are skeptical of this, but it's a very common word in fortune-telling. It also has a more formal, less common meaning: relating to the mind in general — 'psychic pain' means emotional or mental pain, not physical.
