1. 1

A psalmist is someone who has written a psalm. In church writing, "the Psalmist" with a capital P often means David, the king in the Bible, because so many psalms are tied to his name. You would not normally call a modern songwriter a psalmist unless you were being poetic, or a little grand. It is a quiet, word; you meet it in sermons, notes on the Bible, and history, not in the street.
