組成From 16th-century parsnepe, from Middle English passenep: the Old French name pasnaie (from Latin pastināca, ‘parsnip/carrot’, from pastinum, a two-pronged digging fork, as in pastināre, ‘to dig the ground’) was reshaped under the influence of Middle English nepe, ‘turnip’. The extra r may have come in because of parsley.
