Parsimoniously tells you how something is done when the doing is extremely unwilling to spend. With money, a person who lives parsimoniously spends as little as they can, meal after meal, bill after bill. With ideas, a writer who argues parsimoniously uses as few extra claims as possible. It is an adverb, so it describes the manner, not the person: the adjective parsimonious sits on the person or the explanation; this word sits on the verb. It is formal. In ordinary talk people usually say “very cheaply,” “as little as possible,” or “without wasting anything.” You will meet it in essays, science papers, and careful journalism. Keep the two rooms straight, but do not split them into two different words: both still mean “in a sparing way.”
