Parity means being equal — especially in status, pay, or amount, when you compare two people or groups. You hear it most in fairness discussions, like 'pay parity between men and women doing the same job' (they should earn the same). In science or computing it can also mean something more technical about numbers being odd or even, but for most students, the fairness/equality meaning is the one you will actually meet.
