    In golf, 'par' is the standard number of strokes a good player should need to finish a hole - if you do better than that, you're 'under par.' Outside of golf, people use 'on par with' to mean equal in quality to something else, and 'below par' or 'not feeling up to par' to mean not as good as usual, often about your health. People also say something is 'par for the course', meaning it is exactly what you would expect — usually said about something a bit : 'Another delay? That's par for the course with this airline.'
