1. 1

If a place is olde-worlde, it has been so that it looks old-fashioned — wooden signs, old-looking lamps, “village” furniture — whether the building is truly old or not. This is especially British. It can be a compliment (, pretty, full of the past) or a little tease (laid on rather thick, like a film set). It describes places and rooms, not a person’s age. You will hear it from travel writers and from people leaving reviews of pubs and hotels. The spelling itself is part of the joke: olde and worlde are both dressed-up old spellings.
