Olde is not a separate word with a separate meaning. It is old, spelled in a fake-old way. Shops, pubs, tea rooms and product boxes add the extra e so the name feels traditional and sweet: Ye Olde Tea Shoppe. Nobody who is simply talking would say “my olde teacher.” That would sound like a joke or an . The extra e was once a normal piece of older spelling; today it is a costume. People who read English see it at once as “trying to look historic.” Harmless, a bit playful, and very much for names, not for school essays.
