Oil-fired means a machine or a heating system burns oil as fuel to make heat. An oil-fired boiler or oil-fired heating burns heating oil to make hot water or warm air. It is the same idea as coal-fired or gas-fired. You see it on houses, ships, and power stations, in practical, slightly careful English. It does not mean the thing is on fire, and it does not mean food cooked in oil.
