    Obdurately is how someone does a thing when they will not change. They refuse obdurately; they hold obdurately to an idea. It is the same hard determination as obdurate, only now it describes the action rather than the person. Like the adjective, it is formal. In ordinary speech people say instead. Though actually, because the word is so heavy, using it already tells the listener you think the person is in the wrong. You would not say someone obdurately kept a kind promise, as if that were a fault.
