Nymphomania is an old, rather doctor-sounding name for a woman wanting sex very often, often with many different men. It comes from Latin nympha (a nymph, a young woman in Greek stories) plus mania (a wild, hard-to-stop wanting). You can also see it as nympho- + mania. Doctors once wrote it down as an illness. Many people now think that was unfair: a woman’s strong desire was called a disease, while a man’s was talked about in a softer way. You will still hear nymphomania in films, jokes, and insults, but serious doctors almost never use it as a real diagnosis now. When people say it loosely, they often only mean ‘she wants sex a lot,’ which is not by itself a sickness, and is not a fact you can know from gossip.

    慕男狂(舊時醫學標籤,現在多半是貶義或玩笑,醫生已很少這樣寫)
