    Nonconformity is the fact or quality of not going along with the usual ways of a group. It is not the person (that is a ); it is the behaviour, the stance, the “I will not match what you all do.” A school, a workplace, or a whole culture can talk about nonconformity when people refuse the expected path. In everyday talk it is a somewhat formal, essay-like word; people more often say she doesn’t follow the crowd. Though actually, if a line calls this “someone who…”, that is a little tidy-wrong: this word names the not-fitting, not the someone. In British church history, Nonconformity with a capital N can also mean the world of the Protestant churches outside the Church of England — same family as , a different shade.
