Conformity means behaving, thinking, or dressing the way most other people do, or the way a group expects — following the same rules and patterns instead of standing out. It can sound negative, like losing your own personality to fit in, or it can sound neutral, like simply following a rule — 'in conformity with the law' means following what the law says. Schools, workplaces, and social groups all put different amounts of pressure on people toward conformity.
