Nomenclature is a system for giving things names, especially in science. Biology has a famous one: every living thing gets a two-part scientific name, so a scientist in another country still knows you mean the same plant or animal. Other fields have their own nomenclatures too — chemistry, stars, even the parts of a machine. It is a formal, textbook word. In ordinary talk, people just say “the names we use” or “the naming system.” It is the whole system, not one single name.
