From Old English niġontīene; nine + -teen.
源自古英文 niġontīene，就是 nine 加上 -teen。
You can picture nineteen simply as the count 19 — the number you reach after eighteen, used for things, minutes, and years of age. One fixed British phrase borrows the number for a quite different purpose.
可以想成，nineteen 就只是數到 19 這個位置：數東西數到十九、七點十九分、十九歲。它本身沒有什麼比喻空間，就是一個實在的數目。只有一個英式的固定說法把這個數字借去做別的事，跟「十九」本身已經沒什麼關係了。
