    The neckline is the shape made by the top edge of a piece of clothing around, or just below, the neck — especially on a woman’s dress, , or top. A V-neckline comes down in a V; a round neckline is a simple curve; a boat neckline is wide and shallow. Designers talk about necklines (very low) and high necklines. Though actually, the word can describe men’s tops too, such as the neckline of a T-shirt, but fashion talk still uses it most for women’s clothes. The neckline is the shape of the opening, not a separate thing you put on.
