1. 1

A neckband is a narrow strip of material that sits around the neck of a piece of clothing. On a shirt it is often the band the collar is sewn onto; on a T-shirt or sweater it can be the finished edge that goes around the neck. Some older shirts have a neckband and no full collar. It is a clothing word, not a jewellery word: a necklace hangs and often sparkles; a neckband is part of the garment, or a plain strip.
