1. 1

The mortgagor is the person — or sometimes a company — who borrows money to buy a house or land, and who gives the lender a legal hold on that property until the debt is paid. In plain talk: you, if you have a home loan. The word belongs to lawyers and loan papers; people at home say “the ” or just “the buyer.” The pair is mortgagor and mortgagee, and they are very easy to swap. Remember which way the money flowed: the mortgagor took the money and may lose the house if the payments stop; the mortgagee is the one who lent it.

    抵押人(借錢買房的一方。口語常說「貸款戶」或「借款人」)
