    "Monochrome" describes something that uses only one color, but in different shades - from very light to very dark. You'll hear it most about photos, movies, or art: a black-and-white photo is "monochrome" because it only uses black, white, and grey. But it can also mean just one color plus its shades, like a monochrome outfit that's all different blues. In fashion and design, people also use it to talk about a whole look built around one color family.
