Misspelling is spelling a word — and a misspelling is the wrong form you get. Teachers mark misspellings; computers them. One word can have many (recieve, receve for receive). In careful English, a misspelling is about letters. Mixing up two different words (there / their) is more often a usage slip, though people lump them together. You will also meet it as the -ing form of the verb .
