1. 1

A missive is a letter — something written and sent. In ordinary talk almost nobody says “I got a missive”; they say letter, email, or message. When people do use it, they are usually being playful or a little grand: “I have received your latest missive” about a long, serious email, or a parent joking about a note from school. It can also sound old, like a history book (a royal missive, a wartime missive). The humour comes from treating an everyday message as if it were an official dispatch.

    書信、信函(正經場合或開玩笑時才會用;平常就說「信」或 email)
