1. 1

A lumbermill is a building — or a whole plant — where cut trees are sawn into boards and other pieces of wood you can build with. Mill here means a place that processes something, as a flour mill processes grain. The same kind of place is also called a sawmill; lumbermill just makes the “wood” meaning extra clear, especially in North American English. Inside you hear saws, smell fresh wood, and stacks of planks wait to be shipped. It is an ordinary industry word, not slang and not poetic. It is not the forest where the trees come down, and it is not the shop where you buy a few boards.
