A loquacious person likes to talk — a lot, and often at length. It is a , slightly smiling word. In speech most people just say talkative or ; teachers, reviews, and polite writing reach for loquacious when they want to sound a bit educated, or when they mean this person does not stop. It can be fond (she is loquacious at dinner) or a little tired (a loquacious neighbour who will not let you go). It does not promise that the talk is interesting. It mainly promises that there is a lot of it. Formal, not rude by itself — the room decides whether it is a compliment.
