Lime-green is a light yellowish green — the colour of a lime’s inside, or of a lime sweet, not the dark green of most leaves. Clothes, posters, and sports kit use it because it jumps out; it can look fresh or a bit loud, depending on how much of it you wear. Though actually, lime in English is several different things (the fruit, a tree, and a white powder from limestone), but lime-green always points at the fruit’s colour. People also write lime green without the hyphen. It is an everyday colour word, not a science term.
