1. 1

A keypal is someone you write to regularly by email, the way a pen pal letters on paper. Key points to the computer keyboard; pal means friend. Teachers liked this word in the 1990s and early 2000s, when email in class still felt new and they wanted a neat pair with pen pal. Native speakers today almost never say it; they would say email friend, or just friend. You may still meet keypal in older school books. It was always a bit of classroom English, not street English, and it has grown even more dated as email itself has become ordinary.

    電子郵件筆友(由 pen pal「紙本筆友」類推而來;現在日常多說「網友」)
