1. 1

Karting is the sport of racing karts — those tiny, low open cars. You wear a helmet, drive around a track, and try to go fast without hitting the barriers. Families do it for a birthday outing; other people do it as real competition, and quite a few famous racing drivers began with karting as children. The -ing word names the activity, not the machine: the machine is a kart. Though actually, shop signs blur this, and you will see karting printed on the building that merely rents the cars. In Chinese you can say 卡丁車 for both the car and the outing; in careful English, you go karting in a kart.

    卡丁車運動、跑卡丁車。台灣口語常連車子帶活動都叫「卡丁車」。
