A kart is a very small racing car: a low open frame, four wheels, a seat, and a little engine, with no roof and no doors. You sit close to the ground. People race them on short special tracks, for fun or in serious ; even children can drive slower ones. The everyday full name is go-kart. Kart is the short form, used a lot once you are already talking about the sport. You may also see go-cart, an older spelling. As a verb, to kart means to drive or race one of these cars, though the noun is far more common. It is not a family car, not a supermarket trolley, and not the big cars of Formula One — it is the tiny, noisy one that comes up to your knees.
