Juxtaposition is the name of that placing — or of the pair you get when you have done it. A juxtaposition of rich and poor, old and new, funny and sad: the point is that they sit side by side, so your eye or your heart has to hold both at once. You meet it in the same places as the verb : school writing, museums, reviews — not when someone asks for the salt. Though actually, a few writers use juxtaposition as a verb too, as if it were ; most teachers still keep for the action and juxtaposition for the thing you have made. If you only mean “next to,” you do not need this word. You need it when the is doing work.
組成From French juxtaposition: Latin iuxtā (“near”; from iungō, “to join”) + French position (from Latin pōnō, “to place”).
