This is the adjective for a smartphone — an iPhone — after someone has changed the operating system so unofficial software can run on it. People say “a jailbroken phone.” It is informal tech talk, the past form of jailbreak used like a describing word. It is not a word for a person who escaped from prison; that would be an escaped prisoner, not a jailbroken person. Though actually, a jailbroken phone is not always “freer” in a happy way: it may be less safe, updates can fail, and some apps refuse to run on it.
