An insurgent is one of a group of people who fight against their own country's government, or against the people in power. The word can name the person, or it can describe the group (an insurgent army). It is a news and word, not a playground word. Governments usually say insurgent when they want the fighters to sound like rebels with no right to rule; people who support the same fighters may say resistance instead. Though actually, insurgent does not by itself tell you who is in the right — only that they have risen up. It is more organised than a lone , and it usually implies weapons, not only slogans.

From Latin īnsurgēns, from īnsurgō 'to rise up against', in + surgō 'to rise'.
源自拉丁文 īnsurgēns，in「對抗」＋ surgō「起來」：起來反抗。
組成From Latin īnsurgō, "to rise up against": in- (against) + surgō (to rise). surgō itself is from sub (up from below) + regō (to guide, to rule). The old picture is people rising up against those who rule.
