If a person is innumerate, they cannot do simple sums or follow basic maths — they get lost with percentages, charts, or big numbers in the news. You can also call that person an innumerate, but the adjective is more common. It is a fairly formal word, used by teachers and writers. It does not mean “too many to count.” That is innumerable. The two are easy to mix because they share the look of number.
