    Inflammatory has two quite different everyday uses. Talking about words or comments, it means intended (or likely) to make people angry or upset — 'an inflammatory speech' stirs up strong, often angry feelings, sometimes on purpose. In medicine, it describes anything connected to inflammation — the body's response to injury or infection, where an area becomes red, swollen, and warm — so 'anti-inflammatory' medicine reduces that swelling and pain.
