    Something incomprehensible is difficult or impossible to understand. A sentence can be incomprehensible because the English is broken, or the idea is too dense, or someone is speaking too fast. People also stretch it for feelings: his anger was incomprehensible — you cannot see why. It is a fairly strong adjective, used in both speech and writing. Though actually, older religious English sometimes calls God “the Incomprehensible,” meaning a mind we cannot fully take in; that use is rare now. For , the everyday sense is “I cannot understand this.” Comprehensive, a cousin on the page, means covering a lot, not “able to understand.”
