If something is imperceptible, it is there, but it is so slight that you almost cannot see it, hear it, or feel it. An imperceptible nod. An imperceptible pause. An imperceptible change in the light. The important bit is that the thing is happening. Invisible means you cannot see it at all. Imperceptible means it sits just under the edge of what you notice — so small or so slow that, unless you look hard, it slips past. Writers like it because it is calm and exact. In everyday talk people say tiny, or you could barely tell. You will see it a lot before change, difference, shift, and movement.
