Homeopathy is a system of medicine: you treat a disease by giving extremely small amounts of a substance that causes the same kind of signs. The idea is “like treats like”, then you dilute it again and again. The name came into English from German Homöopathie, built like English homeo- (similar) plus -pathy (illness, or a way of treating it). It is a specialist word, not playground talk. Some people believe in it strongly; most hospital medicine does not use it, and many scientists say careful tests have not shown it works beyond hope and care. In Taiwan you may hear it next to other “other-path” treatments, but it is not the same as 中醫: different history, different idea. The person is a ; the adjective is . Those three forms are easy to mix, and they are the thing to keep straight.
