A homeopath is a person who treats illness with homeopathy. That system says you give the sick person an extremely small amount of a substance that, in a larger amount, would cause the same kind of signs as the disease — “like treats like”, in tiny, tiny doses. So the dictionary line is naming the system; the person who does that work is the homeopath. You might visit a homeopath the way some people visit a herbal doctor, off the usual hospital path. It is a job word, a little specialist. Most regular doctors do not use this method, and many of them say the doses are so small that nothing of the original substance is left, so any help is probably hope, or the feeling of being cared for. Other people trust it. You do not need to pick a side to learn the English: homeopath is the person, homeopathy is the system, describes the treatment.
順勢療法醫師(做順勢療法的人,不是療法本身)
組成homeo- + -path, related to German Homöopath. homeo- means “similar”; -path here is a person who treats a kind of illness.
