Good quality, stylish, and usually expensive. You use it about things and places — a high-class hotel, a high-class restaurant, a high-class shop — to say this is the good kind, the kind that costs more. It is everyday spoken English, not a formal word; a hotel's own advertisement is more likely to say 'luxury' or 'five-star', while a person telling a friend about it says 'high-class'. Because of that, it can sound a little old-fashioned or a little like advertising, and English speakers often use it lightly, even jokingly, about something that is only slightly nicer than usual: 'Ooh, paper napkins — very high-class.' Said that way, with the voice going up, it means the opposite. Used about a person, it points to the class they belong to or seem to belong to, and there it can sound snobbish, so people are more careful with it. There is also a common use in job ads and reviews meaning simply 'very skilled' — 'a high-class performance', 'a high-class defender' — which is about ability, not price.
