    A hexagon is a flat shape with six straight sides and six corners. If all the sides are the same length and the corners match, it is a regular hexagon — the shape of a honeycomb cell, which packs together with no wasted gaps. You meet the word in maths class, in design, and when people talk about tiles or the head of a bolt. Though actually, not every six-sided shape has equal sides; a lopsided six-sided figure is still a hexagon. Count the sides, not the points of a star.
