When you speak or write gushingly, praise and pleasure pour out of you in a way that other people think is too strong. The picture is water from a pipe: the feeling will not stay in. A who gushingly calls every small film a masterpiece starts to sound fake, even if the love is real. The word is a little — it puts a raised on the speaker. You will meet it more in writing (about how someone talks) than in careful speech. Warm, honest thanks is not ; gushingly is when it goes over the top.
組成gushing + -ly. Gushing comes from gush: water, or feeling, bursting out.
