核心畫面

Picture someone who has been invited and welcomed into a place or occasion that isn't their own — a party, a home, a show. They didn't set it up and they don't run it; they are received, looked after, and treated as special for a while. That's the heart of 'guest': the welcomed one, the opposite of the host.

From the word’s history

'Guest' comes from Old Norse 'gestr', from the ancient root *ghos-ti- meaning 'stranger / guest / host' — the same root behind host, hospitality, and hostile. Long ago it named a stranger you took in and received, which is exactly the modern feeling: someone from outside whom you welcome and look after.
