When something happens gratifyingly, it happens in a way that pleases you and makes the result feel worth it. You are not saying thank you — that is gratefully. You are saying the thing itself satisfies you. Writers often put it in front of an adjective to mean “to a pleasing degree”: the test was gratifyingly easy; the room was gratifyingly quiet. It is a little formal. In chat a student would more often say I’m so pleased that… or It went really well. It is about how good something feels, not about gifts or money.
