Graphology is the study of handwriting as a way to understand someone’s character. A might look at how large you write, how you join letters, or how hard you press, and then make claims about whether you are confident, secretive, and so on. The word was built in French in the 1800s from Greek for “writing” plus “study of.” Though actually, this is not the same as learning to write , and it is not the same as a police expert comparing two signatures. Graphology is about personality. Many scientists say it does not work well as a test, but you will still see it in some job ads and in popular books. It is a specialist word.
