    If something is granular, it is made of : tiny grain-like bits you can see or feel, like sugar, sand, or some powders. That is the first meaning. People, especially at work, also stretch it: granular information is broken into small pieces of detail, not just one big number. So a granular report might list every shop, not only the whole country. The stretch is now very common, though actually some speakers use granular to mean detailed even when nothing is in grains at all.
