    Gentility is the quality of being polite, soft in manner, and — and of to belong to a high social class. It is about how you speak, sit, and treat people, and also about the air of money and good birth. You will meet it in older books more than in daily talk. Though actually, writers often use it with a small smile: 'a show of gentility' can mean someone is trying to look finer than they feel, or to nice manners while the world around them is rough. It is not a rude word, but it can sound old-fashioned, or a little mocking, depending on the voice.
