Gender-specific means something is for males only, or for females only — not for everyone. A gender-specific changing room, a gender-specific prize, or gender-specific language (like always saying he for a doctor) all pick one side. People use it for clothes, toilets, sports, medicine, and job ads. Though actually, speakers do not all mean the same thing by gender here. In everyday talk it often just means male or female. In some newer writing, gender is more about how a person lives and is seen, and sex is the body; those writers may say sex-specific for blood tests or drugs, and keep gender-specific for social things. The is normal in careful writing: gender-specific, not genderspecific.
gender-specific 指某樣東西只限男性或只限女性，不是給所有人用的。例如「a gender-specific changing room」（只限某一性別的更衣室），或總是用 he 指稱醫生這類語言。它常用在衣服、廁所、運動、醫藥與徵才廣告上。
