    Gastronomic means relating to the art of cooking really good food, or to the pleasure of eating it. A gastronomic tour is a trip built around restaurants and special dishes, not around hospitals. Food writers and restaurant reviews love this word; it feels a little fancy, a little French. It does not mean “about the stomach” in the doctor’s way, even though it starts with the same gastro- piece. Though actually that piece did once mean “stomach” in Greek; in this family it has come to mean good food and the skill of it.
