    A fungicide is a chemical made to kill fungus, or to stop it growing. Farmers and spray it on plants when mould or other fungus would ruin the crop. The second half, -cide, means 'killer', the same idea as in . Though actually, when a person has a fungal infection, the medicine is usually called an antifungal, not a fungicide. Same job, different world: fungicide lives in the garden shed and on the farm; antifungal lives in the pharmacy.
