1. 1

Frostbitten describes a person or a body part that already has frostbite — flesh damaged by extreme cold. You say frostbitten fingers, a frostbitten nose, frostbitten . It is the past-and-done form: the cold has already bitten. Doctors, news reports, and winter stories all use it. You do not use it for food in the freezer, and you do not use it for a little chill on the way home. It is the adjective that belongs with the injury frostbite.
