第四這個位置
三個用法都是同一個「排第四」的位置,只是換了詞性:先當標籤,再當代名詞,最後因為切成四份而變成份量。
fourth (ordinal) · adjective · A2
Coming after the first three things in an order or series.
第四的
You can think of a line of things in order — first, second, third, and then the one right after the third: that position is 'fourth'. Once you can point to that slot, you can use the word three ways: as a label for the thing in that slot (the fourth runner), as the thing itself without naming it (you came fourth), and — because cutting something into four equal slots gives pieces of that size — as one of those four parts (a fourth of the cake).
