A forefoot is one of the two feet at the front of an animal that walks on four legs — a dog, a cat, a horse, a cow. The two at the back are the hind feet, the back feet. People who look after animals use this word a lot: a horse may not walk well because of pain in a forefoot; a cat may lick a cut on its right forefoot. We do not usually say this about people (we have hands and feet, not forefeet), and we do not say it about the legs of a table. It is a clear, slightly specialist word — more at the vet or the stables than in casual chat.
